Carmeuse remains steadfast in its commitment to safety, consistently prioritizing it across all operations. We are thrilled to announce that, for the second consecutive year, we have received the Health & Safety Award from the International Lime Association (ILA) in partnership with VISION ZERO.
To enhance workforce onboarding and development, Carmeuse Americas assembled a cross-functional team from Health and Safety, Operations, and Training. This team launched the New Hire Academy program, designed for new hires with minimal industrial experience. The program combines e-learning, in-person instruction, simulated practice, and hands-on components.
The curriculum included new miner training and basic industrial skills, with a strong emphasis on safety through e-learning opportunities. Participants also receive large equipment training via simulation, along with in-person demonstrations and hands-on learning. Basic maintenance concepts were also covered.
Twenty employees have successfully completed these trainings, achieving a 100% completion rate and demonstrating a higher level of competence. Carmeuse is committed to expanding this program to other locations, continuing to build on the initial success.
