A Year in Review

The Carmeuse Foundation and Junior Achievement's partnership benefited over 13,000 students through educational programs last year. This incredible achievement is due to the tireless dedication of 95 Carmeuse volunteers who have committed their time and expertise to empowering the next generation. As we embark on Year 3 of this enriching partnership across 12 Carmeuse locations, we look forward to the positive impact it will continue to have on our local communities.

Innovation Camps and Competitions

One of the standout events this year was the Innovation Camp held at the Federal Institute of Minas Gerais/Campus Formiga in Brazil. In mid-November, 50 students from Administration, IT, and Electrotechnical courses participated in this exciting competition. With guidance from Carmeuse volunteers, these students tackled real-world challenges and developed creative solutions.

Similarly, our active involvement in the National Competition Business Challenge in Belgrade saw 100 students from 76 secondary schools across Serbia come together to reimagine the Belgrade Marathon with the smallest ecological footprint possible. The innovative solutions presented, such as converting kinetic energy from the crowd into electrical energy, showcased the students' ingenuity and dedication to sustainability.

Ongoing Educational Support

Throughout the year, the Carmeuse Foundation has supported numerous JA initiatives, including the "Les Jeunes Entreprises" (LJE) initiative in Belgium. Our dedicated volunteers worked closely with college students, helping them shape and refine their entrepreneurial projects.

In Brazil, we held two major events: "Connected with Tomorrow" and another Innovation Camp at the National Industrial Apprenticeship Service (Senai). The former event, attended by 286 students with the participation of 19 Carmeuse volunteers, provided valuable insights into career prospects and job market skills. The latter event saw students develop innovative solutions to specific challenges, further enhancing their problem-solving and teamwork abilities.

Empowerment Through Experiential Learning

In Pittsburgh, our team proudly volunteered at BizTown, sharing their passion for mining and engineering with young students. This hands-on learning experience not only sparked interest in our industry but also provided students with a deeper understanding of the technological advancements we utilize.

Looking Ahead

Our global partnership with JA Worldwide spans 12 locations, aiming to provide students with experiential learning opportunities and career development guidance. We believe that by investing in the future of our society, we are contributing to a better world.
