At Carmeuse, we are committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. Our CO2 Roadmap outlines our ambitious and achievable pathway to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change. As a leading global lime supplier, we strive to contribute to a better world by delivering critical products essential to human development, such as steel, construction materials, glass, water treatment, and agriculture. Lime is essential in various industries and plays a crucial role in improving daily life and supporting sustainable progress.

Carmeuse aims to capture and sequester or utilize its CO2 emissions through innovative technologies. We have been calculating our carbon footprint since 2019, with direct emissions (scope 1) representing the majority of our impact. Our goal is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, with intermediate targets for 2030. Our roadmap outlines strategic levers in four areas: combustion emissions, process emissions, electricity, and value chain. Projects include converting to lower carbon fuels, improving energy efficiency, electrifying operations, and engaging with suppliers to reduce emissions.

Decarbonization Technologies & Innovative Projects
Carmeuse is developing new kiln technologies and carbon capture solutions to concentrate and capture CO2 emissions. We aim to be CCS techno-ready by 2028.
Our innovative projects, such as the Butterfly project for capturing CO2 at the kiln level and the Saturn project for end-of-pipe carbon capture, showcase our commitment to sustainability and innovation.

Customers Collaboration
We partner with customers to develop new products and services that help reduce their carbon footprint. Examples include the CAVA lime technology for the AAC producers and the CarboCalco® solution for sugar production.
We’re on track to achieve our 2030 targets, but there is still a lot of work to be done. By focusing on execution and continuing to collaborate with industry partners, customers and stakeholders we will further seek to create momentum and support, reaching our objective of net zero by 2050.
