Carmeuse Lime (Canada) Limited (Carmeuse) operates an existing lime manufacturing facility located at 600 Highway #5 West between Brock Road and Ofield Road South near Greensville, Ontario.
Lime is produced by heating limestone. Lime is used in many applications including steel manufacturing, construction, environmental remediation, water treatment, mining, and production of many consumer goods.
In 2016, Carmeuse conducted public consultation and applied for two Site-Specific Standards under Section 32 of Ontario Regulation 419/05 Air Pollution – Local Air Quality. In 2018, after completing a technical review, the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks issued Site-Specific Standards for Calcium Oxide (also called lime) and Suspended Particulate Matter (dust). An Action Plan to reduce airborne emissions of Calcium Oxide and Suspended Particulate Matter was developed as part of the Site-Specific Standard process. From 2019 to 2022, public information meetings were held to inform the public of Carmeuse’s progress in completing the Action Plan to reduce emissions.
Carmeuse has now completed implementation of the Action Plan, and will host a public meeting on November 14, 2023, to review accomplishments. Additional information regarding the Site-Specific Standards and the completion of the Action Plan is provided here.

Public Meeting
An in-person public information meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Waterdown Legion Branch 551 located at 79 Hamilton Street North in Waterdown, Ontario.

Representatives from Carmeuse and Stantec will share information and answer questions about the Action Plan during the in-person meeting.
